Barney and Miss Beazley
Barney and Miss Beazley were the much beloved Scottish Terriers of President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush.

Our Education Program encourages students to learn more about the Presidency, the First Lady, American history and government, as well as the life and career of the President George W. Bush. In addition to information for parents, teachers, and educators, our staff strives to develop interesting, hands-on games, activities, and trivia; academic competition information; homework resources; and programs for kids in grades K-12.

With a background as a librarian and elementary school teacher in the inner-city schools of Dallas, Houston, and Austin, Mrs. Laura Bush became a key advocate of President Bush’s public education reforms stemming from the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, and introduced the “Ready to Read, Ready to Learn” initiative, which stimulated better methods of early childhood education.
