The Bush family has an esteemed tradition of public service. President George W. Bush’s father, George H. W. Bush, was a decorated naval pilot who flew torpedo bombers during World War II. His career in politics began in 1963 when he was elected chairman of the Harris County (Texas) Republican Party. George Bush served two terms as Vice President of the United States from 1981 to 1989, and served as the 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993. The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
George H. W. Bush’s father and George W. Bush’s grandfather, Prescott S. Bush, served as U.S. Senator representing Connecticut from 1952 to 1963.
President George H. W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush were married in Jan. 6, 1945. They had four sons, George W., John (Jeb), Marvin, and Neil, and one daughter, Dorothy (Doro). The Bush family's first daughter, Robin, died in 1953 at the age of four after fighting Leukemia.

In addition to Barney, a Scottish Terrier who made children around the world laugh through the Barney Cam videos, the Bush family has included several pets over the years.
