This series is divided into six subseries: SO (White House Social Affairs), SO001 (Breakfasts, White House), SO002 (Dinners, White House), SO003 (Luncheons, White House), SO004 (Receptions, White House), SO005 (Teas - Garden Parties - Concerts, White House). The material is arranged by alphanumeric subcode and thereunder by case file number.
All six subseries are comprised of correspondence (and drafts thereof), memoranda, forms, speeches, invitation lists, planning documents, and other materials related to social events including meals, receptions, and concerts held at the White House. The bulk of the material consists of thank-you letters between President Bush and guests, entertainers, and other individuals who were in attendance at social events held at the White House, as well as documents used to track and process gifts to the president.
