Visitors' FAQs

Is There a Security Check at the Library and Museum? 

The Library and Museum is a Federal agency and weapons are not allowed in the building. All visitors entering the Library and Museum must pass through a security check with a metal detector. All bags will be x-rayed and possibly searched by security staff. Any weapons will be confiscated by security staff and not returned. This includes ALL guns, ALL knives, to include locking and non-locking blades, pocket knives of any length, ©Swiss Army Knives, Gerber® Knives and Leatherman® or any other multipurpose tools, stun-guns, and any other items considered as less-than lethal weapons.

When you arrive at the Library and Museum, please enter at the main entrance and go to the admissions desk. A clerk will help you get started with your visit.

What Accommodations Are Available? 

Overnight accommodations are within walking distance of the Library and Museum. In addition, several national hotel chains are short drives from the facility. 

Dining

Food and beverages are prohibited in the Museum (this includes candy, gum, and water bottles).

The Presidential Center's Cafe 43 offers a full service restaurant with a seasonal menu. For reservations, please visit www.bushcenter.org/cafe43 or call 214-200-4302. Cafe 43 hours are: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., seven-days-a-week.

Snacks and other casual fare are available at a quick-service bistro located in the courtyard as well. Bistro hours are: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Saturday and 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday.

While you are encouraged to explore the grounds, due to ongoing construction, the 15-acre park south of the Museum is currently closed to picnics. If students will need to bring a sack lunch please plan to eat at nearby Glencoe Park, located at 5300 Martel, Dallas, TX 75206.

Is There a Museum Store? 

The Presidential Center store offers memorabilia, apparel, and gifts. For questions call 214-200-4304.

Is the Library and Museum ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Accessible? 

The facility is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available at the admissions desk on a first-come, first-served basis.

Motorized scooters are allowed in the facility, but are not available to be checked-out. 

Video presentations are closed-captioned for the hearing impaired.

Only animals defined by the ADA as Service Animals are authorized entry into the Museum; NO pets please.

***While wheelchairs are available free of charge to all visitors (on a first-come, first-served basis) they are not allowed to leave the secured area of the Library and Museum. This means they are not allowed to be taken to Cafe 43, the Museum Store, to the street for pick-up or drop-off, or to the fountain area for any photographs. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
