Weekday afternoons are the least crowded. The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day

Each ticket admits one visitor into all permanent and special exhibits along with all special Library and Museum programming on the day of attendance, as well as a handheld audio guide. Directions, Parking & Public Transportation

Located on the campus of Southern Methodist University, the physical address is 2943 SMU Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75205. Parking, including handicap parking, is available in the parking lot immediately across from the entrance to the Library and Museum, on SMU Boulevard. The Museum is also accessible using the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) System (Orange, Red, or Blue lines).

Security Check

To make your experience safe and enjoyable, be prepared for the Security Check. The Library and Museum is a Federal agency; weapons are not allowed in the building. Upon entry, all visitors must pass through a security check with a metal detector. All bags will be X-rayed, and possibly, searched by security staff. All weapons will be confiscated by security staff and not returned. This includes all guns, all knives, multipurpose tools, stun-guns, and any other items considered as less-than lethal weapons. All bags larger than 19" tall x 10" wide x 9" deep require check-in to the coat room. Ask a Docent (volunteer guide) for assistance.


  • If you need a sign language interpreter, email Bush43Visitors@nara.gov two weeks prior to your visit so one can be arranged.
  • The Museum is fully accessible according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Handicap parking spaces are located in the parking lot immediately across from the entrance to the Library and Museum, on SMU Boulevard.
  • Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Ask a Docent (volunteer guide) for assistance.
  • Wheelchairs cannot leave the Museum's secure area. They cannot be taken to Cafe 43, the Museum Store, to the street for pick-up or drop-off, or to the Freedom Plaza fountain.
  • Video presentations rel="noopener noreferrer" are closed-captioned for the hearing impaired.
  • Only animals defined by the ADA as Service Animals are allowed into the Museum.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • Motorized scooters are allowed.

Flash photography is prohibited. Ask a Docent (volunteer guide) if there are photography restrictions in the special exhibits.

Younger Visitors

Visitors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult at all times. Chaperones must remain with younger visitors when in the exhibit galleries, classroom, Cafe43 and courtyard, and Museum Store as well as when on the Presidential Center grounds.


Food rel="noopener noreferrer" and beverages, including candy, gum, and water bottles are prohibited in the Museum.

Cafe 43
The Presidential Center's Cafe 43 offers a full service restaurant rel="noopener noreferrer" featuring seasonal, locally-sourced menu items. Located near the main entrance, dining in Cafe 43 does not require admission to the Museum. Reservations are recommended; use Open Table or call 214-200-4302.

Courtyard Cafe
The Courtyard Cafe, located in the Ceremonial Courtyard, offers daily specials, soups, rel="noopener noreferrer" salads, sandwiches, and beverages; outdoor seating only.

    Sunday, noon - 5 p.m.

Native Texas Park

With a native Texas landscape in a 15-acre urban park, the grounds of the George W. Bush Presidential Center reflect the President and Mrs. Bush’s longstanding commitment to environmental conservation and restoration. Self-guided tours along with a Landscape Education Map and Guide are available.


Overnight accommodations are within walking distance and several national hotel chains are short drives from the Library and Museum.
